The game was released for the PlayStation 3 console in Japan on July 23, 2009, on September 22, 2009 in North America, and September 18, 2009 in Europe. A demo of the game became available on the Japanese PlayStation Network on its Japanese release date, and on the North American PlayStation Network on September 10, 2009.

Korogashi Puzzle Katamari Damacy is a falling block puzzle video game released by Bandai Namco Games for the Nintendo DSi's DSiWare digital download service. It is a spin-off of the Katamari series. However, it bears little resemblance to the series, resembling Tetris more so. It uses the gameplay engine of Pac-Attack, another puzzle game created by Namco. It was the first game in the series to appear on a Nintendo platform.
